Is Sex Really That Important?
Part 1
I was at a conference a few years ago. The presenter, a sex therapist, asked the audience what was one of the big problems with the topic of sex and therapy patients. The presenter told the audience it was us, the therapist. We were telling patients sex isn’t that big of a deal. He disagreed passionately.
Sex is very important in a relationship. It is the process that intensely immerses the couple in love and passion they have for each other. One of the clearest descriptors of this is when sex becomes a problem or disappears in a relationship. The connection of the couple dissolves immensely. Conflict occurs more often and general levels of connection are reduced or lost completely. Basic levels of intimacy begin to disappear.
Why do People Stop Having Sex?
- Number one reason: I am too tired.
- Stressed
- Couples stop going to bed at the same time
- Rejection
- Not feeling good about your body
- Lack of trust after an affair
- Boredom
- Conflicting parenting styles
- Anger
- Discomfort during sex
- Bad hygiene
