You Want Your Kids to Be Better Than You
Sometimes it can be a hard pill to swallow, but overall, you want your kids to be better than you. This is why it is important to be a positive model for your children. Be the person you want your kids to be when they are old. At times, it is important to ask ourselves “Am I the person that I want my kids to be?” “Am I the parent I would want my kids to be when they are older?”
Often times, there can be baggage that adults hold onto from their childhood and can affect their parenting style.
It is important to combat this and break that cycle.
A few ways to do so…
-Do an honest check-in with yourself, and see what you need to work on
-Seek therapy if concerned
-Give your kids positive attention by encouraging them and lifting them up
-Be a positive role model for your kids
I always say there are no “perfect” ways to parent or a manual, however, there are more ways not to parent.
